Authenticated SMTP allows you to send emails through Namesco’s mail servers, using a username and password supplied by us. This can be used when your ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not provide an outgoing mail server, or if you use a machine which logs in from various locations, such as a laptop.
Namesco Authenticated SMTP may not be available with your ISP. You should check with your ISP whether they block default port 25 (SMTP) access through their network before purchasing Authenticated SMTP, or allow access to external SMTP servers through their network.
If they block port 25, or prevent external access, this service will not be available to you.
Only 1 Authenticated SMTP package is required per domain name as it covers all mailboxes.
Please note: as from 3rd July 2006, all computers that attempt to send mail via Namesco's Authenticated SMTP service must have a fully-qualified domain. You can set this up as follows:
[] go to the Windows desktop
[] right-click on the "My Computer" icon
[] select "Properties"
[] select the "Computer Name" tab
[] click on the "Change" button
[] click on the "More" button
[] in the box marked "Primary DNS Suffix", enter your domain name
[] click on the "OK" button
This requirement has been added as part of our ongoing anti-spam measures
