Founded by the Internet Industry in 1996, the IWF works in partnership with the Police, the Government, the wider online industry and the public to combat the availability of potentially illegal online content.
As members of charitable organisation IWF, Namesco is committed to supporting their work and government authorized initiatives to combat criminally obscene content on the internet.
One of those initiatives is to help hosting companies and internet service providers like Namesco to combat abuse of their networks through their national ‘notice and take-down’ service. This service alerts ISP and Hosting providers to potentially illegal content within their remit and provides unique data to law enforcement partners in the UK and abroad to assist investigations into the distributors of potentially illegal online content.
According to IWF, as a result of this partnership approach, less than 1% of child sexual abuse content known to them has apparently been hosted in the UK since 2003, down from 18% in 1997.
Namesco is committed to supporting the work of the IWF, supporting the aims and objectives put together by the organization.
“As members of the Industry we feel that it is our responsibility to support the protection against this type of activity and actively make a real difference in today’s society where such issues can be of primary concern to many of our customers. These concerns are prominent within the hosting industry, supporting such causes and our customers needs is a key commitment for us” Namesco
